Reform and innovation of rising stem gate valve
There are many defects in the traditional gate valves, such as water leakage, rust, poor sealing and so on. The rising stem gate valve can replace the traditional gate valve products, which can achieve good sealing effect by using the deformation compensation effect produced by the whole rubber coating, so as to overcome many defects of the traditional gate valve.
1、 Working principle of rising stem gate valve:
The gate is the opening and closing part of the rising stem gate valve. The movement direction of the gate valve should be perpendicular to the direction of the medium flow. Therefore, the rising stem gate valve can only be fully opened or fully closed, and can’t be used to regulate the water flow or intercept.
The rising stem gate valve is sealed in a different way than the traditional gate valve. When the rising stem gate valve is in the closed state, the sealing surface can achieve the sealing effect by the pressure generated when the medium contacts with the sealing surface. Such sealing mode is self sealing. The traditional gate valve is based on the pressure produced by external strong pressure to seal, which is the way of mandatory sealing.
2、 Advantages of rising stem gate valve:
(1) Rising stem gate valve by the medium resistance is small, so the sealing surface is not easy to be corroded and scoured by the fluid.
(2) The rising stem gate valve has the advantages of simple structure, small volume, light weight, good manufacturability and can be widely used.
(3) The rising stem gate valve can’t intercept or cut off the medium, so the flow direction of the medium will not be disturbed and the limiting force will not be reduced.
(4) The rising stem gate valve is very labor-saving when opening and closing, and is convenient for installation and maintenance.
3、 Precautions for maintenance of rising stem gate valve:
(1) The handwheel is placed at the top and the valve stem is installed perpendicular to the handwheel.
(2) Hand wheel, transmission mechanism and handle are strictly prohibited from collision, and they can’t be used as lifting.
(3) The installation of gate valve with drive mechanism must be carried out according to the instructions to avoid unnecessary danger.
(4) If rising stem gate valve is often used, lubrication shall be conducted at least once a month.
After flushing the pipe with water, the traditional gate valve is easy to be blocked by the sediment (stone, wood block, cement, paper scraps, etc.) at the bottom of the valve, which makes the gate valve unable to operate and easy to leak. The rising stem gate valve adopts the same flat bottom design as the water pipe, which is not easy to cause debris and sludge in the valve bottom, but also allows the fluid to flow smoothly. Compared with the traditional gate valve, the valve has the advantages of light opening and closing, reliable sealing and long service life, so it is more and more widely used in modern development.
